New York Times casts an eye on Ireland’s strike for freedom

Interesting opinion piece in the New York Times on events in Ireland one hundred years ago. This opinion piece was written by Christopher L. Pastore, associate professor of history at the University at Albany, State University of New York, it quotes extensively from the NYT correspondent of the day, who was rather perplexed by the fact the Dáil proceedings in Dublin’s Mansion House were conducted in Irish.

The article contains some contemporary photographs which I haven’t seen before and which may be of interest to followers of this website. You can access the New York Times article here; https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/21/opinion/how-the-irish-won-their-freedom.html
