Issuing of Dáil Bonds 1919

The attached link is for a newsreel film from 1919. It shows Michael Collins collecting subscriptions for Dáil Bonds and depicts many of the notable people connected to the struggle for independence. The location was St Enda’s School, Rathfarnham, which had been founded by Padraic Pearse and the table was actually the block upon which Robert Emmet was beheaded in the wake of his hanging in Thomas St, Dublin in 1803. The filmclip commences with Collins reading a letter from Bishop Michael Fogarty, Bishop of Killaloe subscribing to and endorsing the Dáil Bonds ; VIEW

Around the five minute point, you can see North Tipperary TD, Joseph McDonagh and Tipperary born TD for Dublin Harbour – Phil Shanahan subscribing to the Bond issue.
